About Rang De Basanti
The narrative centers on a group of friends who have recently graduated from Delhi University yet continue to frequent their old campus. Their lives take a turn when they encounter a British filmmaker, Alice Patten, who aims to cast them in a project inspired by the heroics and sacrifices of Indian freedom fighters during British colonial rule.
Initially, these friends are largely indifferent to political matters. However, their apathy shifts dramatically following the tragic loss of a close friend due to local governmental corruption, igniting a newfound sense of patriotism within them. The plot then unfolds to reveal their quest for justice as they seek vengeance for their friend's untimely death.
Rang De Basanti garnered significant acclaim, winning four National Film Awards, including the coveted Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
In the film, Soha Ali Khan portrayed a character opposite R. Madhavan, while sharing the screen with Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, Siddharth, Atul Kulkarni, R. Madhavan, and the legendary Waheeda Rehman.
